Jewellery Care
Jewellery is delicate and should be cared for to keep it looking it’s best. Below are some tips on caring for your jewellery.
Over time metals exposed to air will tarnish. Precious metals such as sterling silver may be cleaned with a liquid jewellery cleaner or jewellery polishing cloth (if using liquid cleaner be careful not to get any on crystals, stones or pearls). These products may also be used on plated metals but over time they will not respond as well to cleaning.
To help prevent tarnishing keep jewellery in the box it came in or store it in a jewellery box to minimise exposure to air.
Spraying perfume or hairspray onto jewellery should be avoided. Jewellery should be the last thing you put on and the first thing you take off.
Keep a soft cloth handy (such as an old cotton handkerchief) to give the piece a gentle wipe over before/after wearing. It’s a good way to remove fingerprints from crystals and body oils and traces of perfume from pearls and semiprecious stones.
